How to Promote your Blog | Smart Content Marketing

In this episode we will recap a tip from the last podcast, a quick seo tip and then we are going to get down to it with a conversation about a wonderful blog post that ProBlogger wrote about Content Marketing Smart – Why your blog article is just the beginning. Whew that was a mouthful…

Tip from Podcast 15: Why you should own your domain name

If there is one thing that I would like to recommend to all business owners above all things it is that you must own your url (domain name). I have run across so many people that started their blog on www.yourcompanyname.wordpress.com or on yourcompanyname.tumblr.com or yourcompanyname.blogspot.com or even on weebly.com and now realize that they need to move it.

I go into a lot more detail in that podcast but I can promise you, this is something that you will hear about from me over and over again. I will preach it until they take my computer away.

SEO Tip:

Don’t publish blank pages. When you are working on a page for your blog it is tempting to publish it so that you can easily share it or easily read it. Don’t do that. Blank pages are bad for SEO. People can happen across your page even if it is not linked to or in the navigation bar. It happens and when it happens people leave. So that is my quick and easy tip for ya.

Now let’s get down to it:

I try and read a few blog posts or maybe just scan a few blog post every morning. A few mornings back I read a blog posts by Darren Rowse of Problogger that really struck a cord with me. I thought that today we could go over this post and talk about some of the various points that he made. Listen to the podcast for all that I had to say.
