In this podcast we are going to discuss a quick tip from the previous podcast, a quick SEO tip and then we are going to get down to it with a conversation about bad blogging advice: It doesn’t matter how often you blog as long as you blog every once in a while. ?

This is part 9 of a 12 part series called bad blogging advice. In the course of my studies on the idea of blogging and all things related I have seen some amazing blogging advice, and I have seen some really bad blogging advice. Then there is the blogging advice that seems good on the surface but turns out to just be overwhelming or confusing for the newbie. In this series we are going to discuss just such things.

Tip from the previous podcast #41: Is your Blog sagging in the middle like this couch?

It can be a real challenge to get to page one of Google for a single keyword. Instead spend your time talking about your blog topic theme instead of just one single idea. Besides, no one likes a person who only ever talks about one single thing all day every single day. These kind of conversations get old and you also run out of things to say.

Title: WordPress SEO Tips: 7 Deadly Mistakes You Want to Avoid
1.  No keywords in your page name

Google likes to see that whatever keywords you are targeting you have the keywords within the page name.

This is not essential but it’s an extra tick mark from Google when the keywords are in the page name.

I’d like to rank for wordpress seo tips on this post.  So the page name will be: www.razorsocial.com/wordpress-seo-tips.

This is better than: www.razorsocial.com/?1324324234

Action:   Check your ‘permalinks’ section in wordpress.  If it’s a brand new site not launched yet change it so that by default you don’t have lots of numbers in your address.  If it’s an existing site talk to your developer!

Now let’s get down to it and discuss: It doesn’t matter how often you blog as long as you blog every once in a while.

The search engines are looking for websites that are current and the best way to keep your website / blog current is to update it on a frequent basis. This alone is a good enough reason to create a reasonable blogging frequency. Your blogging frequency choices not only impact you but they also impact your audience.

How often should you post new blog posts?

The answer is: it depends.

Here are a series of questions that you need to ask yourself:

  1. What is the purpose of my blog?
  2. Who is my target audience?
  3. How much time do I really have to dedicate?
