So today I had an aha moment with Instagram.
But before we get into that, let me share something.
When I was born, I came out of the womb shaking rattling and rolling.
Ok so just shaking but still.
It is most noticeable on my hands but I shake. I have always had a shake. I will always have a shake.
This is not a big deal but there are times when it is inconvenient.
As a kid, I got laughed at a bit.
As an adult, I get the following questions:
"Are you nervous"
"Do you need a fix?"
Yes, people have actually asked me that. That is the worst one.
Back in my 9 to 5 days, I would start every interview with explaining the shake so that they wouldn't think that I was nervous or a drug addict.
Today, the issue is holding a camera. It doesn't go well for me. You should see my attempts at shooting video with my phone.
It is a train wreck.
Just the other day, I shot a video for Instagram and it was a mess.
I said, the heck with it and released it anyways.
But, I want to do more quick Instagram and Twitter vides. I know that there had to be a better way.
This is when I had an aha moment.
I can make quick helpful videos with Screenflow and then put them on Instagram.
This is what I did and it worked well. It also allowed for better quality videos.
So here is my process:
- Have an idea
- Write out the script
- Record with Screenflow
- Add intro and outro slide
- Add text with link info over video
- Save as mp4
- Airdrop to phone
- Text myself the Instagram message with hashtags
- Copy and paste text
- Upload video
The Tools That I Used:
- Mac
- ScreenFlow
- AirDrop
- iPhone
You can use any video editing tool for this. If you have a Mac you could use iMovie, which is free. You can also find other free video editing tools on a PC.
Of course, don't forget that you can do selfie videos or videos shot live.
Instagram is a happening platform, so have fun and enjoy it.
This is great. I love your bullet list. I am going to share it with everyone who wants to make videos. Thanks for sharing it.
Sabrina,
Thank you so much. It was really becoming a frustrating experience and I knew that there had to be a better way. I hope that this inspires you to make a lot of videos.

Rachit,
Thank you and I hope that it inspires you to make some videos.
Well you could get this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-movie-maker-download. I have heard great things about it in the past.
