Are you willing to do what it takes?
That is the question that was posed in an audio book that I am listening to currently.
When I first heard the question I whispered yes...but more as a question that I was asking out loud.
Then the author went on to discuss the question.
We all want to be filthy rich but are you willing to do what it takes to be filthy rich?
He says be honest.
Are you willing to give up your vacations, your social interactions, time with your family? Are you willing to live the life that it takes to be filthy rich?
These are harsh questions. Immediately I went into denial mode. I paused the book and started mentally arguing with him.
Does it really have to be like that?
Then I reflected back on my own experience. The greatest levels of success have come from being consistent. Being consistent means not compromising when something fun or interesting comes along.
If you say that you will blog daily, then do it. Don't do it only when there isn't something more fun to do.
Does that mean that you must sacrifice your entire life? Maybe. Maybe not.
That is a choice. Perhaps success comes slower for those who are only willing to make mini compromises.
I don't know but I do know that the joy of entrepreneurship is that we get to choose our own pace.
You do you at the pace that makes you happy. Just make sure that you are proud of yourself at the end of the day.
That I believe is the key. I am not willing to sacrifice every aspect of my life BUT I have scarified quite a bit. BUT that is only because I love the pursuit of more. It makes me happy.
